Waste Management Grant Creates Challenger Learning Center Partnership

To help promote an awareness and understanding of the environment and spread the word that everyone plays a role in safeguarding our environment, Waste Management provided a grant to Keep Tallahassee-Leon County Beautiful.  The Target City Grant enabled us to provide “Reduce… Reuse… Recycle” trivia slides to an annual captive audience of 100,000 per year.  These slides will be onscreen in the Challenger Learning Center’s two theatres, IMAX Theatre and Downtown Digital Dome.  We also provided an interactive kiosk in the exhibit hall showing Keep America Beautiful’s ‘Garbage Goon’, an interactive comic.  This facility reaches the children and residents of the 66-county service area in North Florida, South Georgia and Southeast Alabama.  The Challenger Learning Center also has links on their website to KTLCB.  These trivia slides will be shown before every show for twelve months in both theatres.

FREE recycling containers

Leon County now provide FREE recycling containers for events held at Leon County parks. Visit www.leoncountyfl.gov/recycling for more information.
